Ontario Adaptive Mountain Biking – Intro Riding Weekend
Adaptive mountain biking (aMTB) is a form of mountain biking that enables individuals with mobility challenges to access off-road trails using specially designed bikes. These bikes are adapted to meet a wide range of needs—some feature three or four wheels for stability, hand-crank systems for riders who use their upper body, or electric assist for navigating tough terrain.
aMTB bikes are engineered to handle rugged trails, roots, rocks, and elevation changes just like traditional mountain bikes. They empower riders to explore forests, mountains, and backcountry routes while fostering independence, fitness, and connection to nature.
Adaptive mountain biking is growing in popularity thanks to improved technology, trail advocacy, and inclusive trail networks that are designed or modified to support all riders. It’s not just about accessibility—it’s about adventure, challenge, and community.
