24 Hour Summer Solstice

Ideal for teams seeking a fun challenge or solo riders pushing their limits, the 24 Hour Summer Solstice delivers an unforgettable mountain biking race experience in Ontario.

Albion Hills is all about fast, rolling forest riding rather than steep, rocky downhill.

What to expect:

  • Smooth elevation changes (constant up/down, not huge climbs)
  • Hard-packed dirt and flowing singletrack
  • Berms, bridges, and optional technical features

It’s the kind of place where you can keep momentum and ride for hours without stopping. And that’s the plan!

The 24 Hour Summer Solstice is a lap-based endurance MTB race where riders complete as many laps as possible over a full 24-hour period, typically spanning the longest day of the year.

You can race as:

  • Solo (the ultimate test)
  • Pairs
  • Teams (usually 3–8 riders in relay format)

The goal: ride as much (and as fast) as you can before the clock runs out.

The Night Riding Factor

This is what makes the event legendary.

Riding between midnight and sunrise:

  • Forces focus and mental discipline
  • Fatigue hits hard
  • Even easy trails feel technical

For solo riders especially, this is where the race is won or lost.

Pit Area & Festival Vibe

The atmosphere is part race, part campground party:

  • Music and cheering (especially early evening)
  • BBQs and team hangouts
  • Riders constantly rotating in and out

It’s competitive, but also very social.

Strategy & Endurance

Success isn’t just fitness—it’s strategy:

  • Lap pacing (don’t burn out early)
  • Transition efficiency (for teams)
  • Nutrition and hydration
  • Sleep management (or lack of it)
  •

Who It’s For

Teams:

  • Fun, social, high-energy
  • Great intro to endurance racing

Solo riders:

  • Physically and mentally brutal
  • One of the toughest MTB challenges in Ontario

What Makes It Special

  • The 24-hour format pushes you beyond normal limits
  • The day-to-night transition creates two completely different races
  • The community vibe is unmatched—everyone suffering together
