Introducing children to mountain biking builds physical strength, balance, and coordination while encouraging problem-solving and resilience on the trail. Beyond the physical benefits, mountain biking teaches kids important life skills like perseverance, independence, and respect for nature. Whether it’s navigating technical terrain, climbing a tough hill, or cruising down a flowy descent, every ride helps kids develop self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment. Plus, sharing time on the trails strengthens family bonds, fosters a spirit of exploration, and creates unforgettable memories. With the right trail systems, coaching, and encouragement, mountain biking can become a safe, exciting, and empowering activity that kids carry with them for life.
ONtrail supports Canada’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and believe that it is our responsibility to listen, learn, and support healing. To that end we present this Land Acknowledgement.
The lands on which we build and ride originate from the history and modern traditions of the Anishabe, Attawandaron, Haudenosaunee and the Metis. As we gather on trail let us join in solidarity with our Indigenous brothers and sisters to respect the four directions, land, water, animals and ancestors. We thank the Mississauga of the New Credit First Nation for being traditional stewards of this territory.
